Hey there followers! Hugo Here!
So, I have to start by telling you: Sissy and I have the best parents ever. I mean, who else gets thrown in the car on a Saturday morning to go on a HIKE!?!
I did have to get up earlier than I normally do, but it was totally worth it! Two paws up for sleeping in every day, but I will happily give that up anytime I hear "wanna go on a walk?!" Those are the best words on the entire planet! (Besides the one great word: "treats." That word is the best, but "walk" is a close second.)
It took like seven hours to get there (ok mom corrected me and said it was only 30 minutes) but it was the longest car ride ever! Lucky for me, dad let me ride with the windows down, and with the slower speed limits here in Japan, I could keep my head out the whole time! Mom said she will look into doggie-goggles for me so it doesn't hurt my eyes as much when we go fast...maybe I'll get them for Christmas!
We eventually made it to Isanoura Park, where we parked in the wrong parking lot, and then dad moved the car to another area where there was more parking. I didn't really pay much attention because mom had let Reynolds and I out of the car and we were busy sniffing all the smells.
Eventually, dad found a map of the area and we were off! The start of the trail consists of small cabins and camping areas, where we saw a lot of people setting up tents for the weekend! The weather was perfect, and the tents reminded us of camping in Brevard- minus all the rain! Sissy said as long as there aren't campfires, she will be happy!
The entire 5K trail was paved and, the best part? We were the only people on the trail! Once we got far enough from the campers, dad suggested letting sis and me off our leashes so we could run! While I was nervous I would lose my leash-free privilege if Reynolds didn't listen, we both were set free to run ahead and scout out the trail! If we got too far ahead, dad would yell for us, and sis and I would turn around and check on them.
Sissy did so good listening, too! Mom would argue that sissy was a better listener than me, but that's just because Reynolds wasn't sniffing all the good smells I was. If she had smelled those same smells, her ears would have been clouded too...
After walking around the whole lake, dad led us down an unpaved path that brought us to a rope bridge! As you can imagine, Reynolds was not a fan! I mean, look at the pictures below, and you can see her crouched stance and her laying down. She did not like the bridge moving; she said it was too scary! I reminded her that mom and dad wouldn't take us anywhere that wasn't safe- but she wasn't having it!
While sis was focused on not falling to her death (Miss Dramatic), mom noticed a beautiful waterfall leading to the river below us! It hasn't rained recently, so I think we should come back another time to see it again. I also wouldn't mind that off-leash walk again!
By the time we made it back to the car, Reynolds and I were beyond tired! Then dad took the shortcut home, and we were back in a blink of an eye! While sis and I slept, mom and dad went over to one of their friend's houses for a fondue dinner. I'm not sure what fondue is, but mom and dad came home later smelling of melted cheese and chocolate, so they have some explaining to do.
Sniffs and wags,
-Hugo
