With Gram's trip behind me, I have a few days to pass the time until Bryan arrives in our new home! After deep-cleaning the house, I rewarded myself with a few afternoons on the beach.
Finally, on July 12, Bryan bonged-off the USS America for the last time. After going back and forth with SATO and NAVPTO regarding his flights, Bryan enjoyed a few days in Brisbane before boarding his flights to LA, then Dallas, then Madrid, and eventually to me.
While the wait continued, the pups and I made final preparations for Dad's arrival. Baths were needed after all our afternoons of rolling around in the grass! Little did this smiling girl know that her Dad would be home soon!
July 17: Bryan made it to Rota!
Then the day finally arrived; at 1 pm, Bryan's flight landed at Jerez Airport and I finally got to love on my hubby after a long two months and an eight-hour time difference! We enjoyed the fresh air and Rota sunshine as we rode to Base for Bryan to check in at the hospital before making our way home.
And when we made it home, you know I had to film our puppy-Dad reunion!
July 18th: Bryan's First Day at Naval Hospital Rota
So our romantic first evening at home turned into unpacking suitcases and steaming Bryan's white uniform so he was ready to report for his first day of work. With so much to carry, but unable to carry anything in uniform, I got to walk Bryan into work for his first day! Of course, I wasn't passing up on the photo ops.
I have turned into Cindy Kimble.
While Bryan passed his first week at the hospital with his check-in, I passed my time looking rachet and putting together our new IKEA furniture that I bought during Gram's visit! I may not have a job in Spain (yet) but I know how to fill my time!
As we close out this first week of Bryan being home, I am happy to report that he approved of my house choice, my car purchase, and my scooter-buying decisions! He hasn't made any comments about all the plants I've bought so I take that as approval to buy more.
We even set up Spanish cell phone numbers, so if you don't have an iPhone you can find us on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. So it's official, we are really adopting the Spanish way of life and diving into the local culture!
We have passed our evenings by exploring downtown Rota on the back of our scooter! Our 20-minute drive before dinner turned into an hour-and-a-half escapade of trying to find our way off all the one-way cobblestone streets...but it's a memory filled with laughs and wrong turns that we only hope grows into more memories!
As we close out the first work week of Bryan's new job at Naval Hospital Rota, you KNOW I already made plans for the first Saturday of travels! Be on the lookout for our next post to see where we are off to first now that the family is back together in SPAIN!
Adios until next time!
